I had the same problem, and it ended up being a short in the wiring. One of the wires insulation had been rubbed through, where it contacted the frame. Would work sometimes, and then I would be riding at night with the lights, and bam, no lights for 10-30 seconds. It really sucked. I found it and taped it up, then re-routed the wire.

start by checking your bulbs, with a meter, then start working your way back till you find power, sould only be one of a few things or maybe a few of the few things.. lol ...

could be's

1) bulbs are bad, even bad bulbs can fake it for a while it the filament touches

however, this is unlikly

2) dirt or corrosion in the on off switch.... take it off and pull it apart to check, rebuild and use electrical grease inside

3) short in wire,,, like stated above,,, wiggle wires and see if they come on

4) crap in a plug or plug not put together tight,,,,,

it is most likely a short or a plug, maybe the light fixture....

Stock lights or aftermarket? Did you hook the battery up to the bulbs or some point on the wires?

Reason I ask is cuz I just fixed Watkins Torch Lights. One of em was running off n on and really weak. Pulled out the light and the set screw holding the wires on was missing so it was just bouncing around in there.
