milo_32000 Posted December 6, 2005 Report Posted December 6, 2005 How is the best way to check for a bent axel, and if so can it be repaired ? To be honest I have a small amount of shake at high speeds, not sure if it`s wheels or axel , or tires , Thanks , milo Quote
Motoman991 Posted December 6, 2005 Report Posted December 6, 2005 i would say put the rear up on something where the wheels do not touch the ground, start her up, put her in gear and give it some gas, it would probably help if two people were doing this so you do not have to lean back while your giving it gas Quote
Cotton eyed Joe Posted December 6, 2005 Report Posted December 6, 2005 Take it to a machine shop, and have them put it between centers (preferably dead centers. Live centers can have up to .010 run out or more) using the centers (little holes) in the end of the axle. Then they can put a dial indicator on the bearing journals and tell you the TIR. Thats how I've checked mine. Quote
Shee-Male Posted December 6, 2005 Report Posted December 6, 2005 I don't think you'd feel .010 runout But that deffinatly the super precise way Quote
