typhoon1911 Posted November 10, 2005 Report Posted November 10, 2005 Hey Guys, I obviously do not have a service manual for my banshee. What does it take to install a modded shift star? Pictures would be cool or general directions. Thanks, Alan Quote
RNBRAD Posted November 10, 2005 Report Posted November 10, 2005 Just take off your clutch cover (after draining oil) and you will see the shift star at the lower left corner. Unbolt the gear shift foot lever, this will allow you to pull the shifting mechanism out of the way to get to the star. Just remove the center screw on the oem star with a phillips screw driver and carefull not to loose the small metal pin. Replace with modded star and reinstall everything in reverse order. Quote
hittintrees srh Posted November 10, 2005 Report Posted November 10, 2005 aight dudes-I hope i dont sound too stupid but........... what is a moded shift star, and why does everyone want to have em' thanx all Quote
BansheeBillyBob Posted November 10, 2005 Report Posted November 10, 2005 i think they take the stock one and machine it so it shifts easier and is easier to find neutral Quote
RNBRAD Posted November 10, 2005 Report Posted November 10, 2005 You can see I have already installed the modded shift star. The oem unit is just to the right of it. Big pic so you can identify the differences. Quote
GleasmJA Posted November 10, 2005 Report Posted November 10, 2005 who carries the moded stars?? Quote
RNBRAD Posted November 10, 2005 Report Posted November 10, 2005 Jeff at FAST Racing. PM FASTOYS. Quote
BdBanshee Posted November 11, 2005 Report Posted November 11, 2005 In the pic Brad has already removed the clutch basket, you will need a air or electric impact for this. Also most of the time you have to replace the keeper under the nut holding the clutch basket on. Quote
RNBRAD Posted November 11, 2005 Report Posted November 11, 2005 Oh yea almost forgot, that too. Quote
Wallrat Posted November 11, 2005 Report Posted November 11, 2005 Personally I think your money is better invested in a Clymers. Quote
boonman Posted November 11, 2005 Report Posted November 11, 2005 It should take you about an hour. Try to be careful with the clutch cover gasket. If you can avoid tearing it, and keep it in good shape, you won't need a new one. On another note, I also carry the modded stars, in stock. Alot of other shops do as well. Quote

Since I live in Hawaii, I don't know of any shops here who even carry basic parts for the Banshee, none-the-less modded shift stars. Could you PM me the cost you want for the Shift Star? I was looking at Mull Engineering, but I'd rather buy from the list and support you guys first! Thanks Again, Alan Quote
