OK here is the story, a friend of mine has a banshee his cousin built for 900.00 in his garage. it definatly needs some cosmetics and back in the day it was a force to be feered. I'm thinking of buying it. it definatly needs plastics a front a-arm and the works shocks rebuilt but I want to check the motor out. I have another two stroke and have rebuilt that motor so I'm not completely lost in this area but I can;t exactly rip the motor apart before sending it back.

It runs on 110octane with cut heads, has twin flat slide keighns(I can never spell this), home made pipes , v-force reeds and spacers, and porting. I want to run a compression test on it what would be a good figure to get? I'm thinking with 110 its at like what 14.5, 15to1? also is there any other areas I should look out for or check out?

I ask becuase it used to be so fast and maybe its just getting tired (or I can;t drive it) but it doesn;t seem that fast anymore. the power band feels extremely high it is as if it has no power in 1st and second gear and by third its absolutely screeming  It definatly is a fixer upper and needs some work but I don't want a basket case.

how long should a bottom end or top end last on these bikes? any issues with pistons cracking or skirts breaking loose?

all and any help is appreciated.

anybody have any ideas?

I got 120 out of the right cylinder and 125 out of the left cylinder when sitting on the bike.

You dont need to be running any race gas with numbers like those!

Without an inital compression reading from when it was first built it is hard to tell anything by those numbers, if the domes have been cut and there was a need to run race gas depending on altitude about 160psi it is definately time for a top end rebuild. It would be best to go ahead and pull the head off and check to see if it has indeed been cut and check the cylinder clearance.

I know for sure it was cut, the garage that the bike is in will be the best man at my wedding and his cousin had them cut/ built the bike. It also kicks over extremely easy(low compression). being that he ported himself its really hard to say what parameters were changed and how much.

how thick should the head be if I wanted to messure it with calipers.

the bike also has what I would describe as cronic dirt syndrome it needs a cleaning bad.
