adventurebound Posted October 20, 2005 Report Posted October 20, 2005 Hello, My name is Kai and am a off road enthusiast. I like bikes quads and trucks. If I didn't buy a YFZ 450 then I would have a Banshee for sure. I do have a question about a RZ350 Power Valve. How can you tell if it is indexed correctly. I suspect (hope) that it is 180 degrees out. The bike runs well but just does not scream like I believe it should. It is an 85 RZ350 Kenny Roberts. It has new pistons 30mm carbs with dynojet kits, a 2 into one air filter and old Spec II chambers. The previous owner also installed new reeds. I do not believe it was ported or modified other than that. I am hoping that the power valve is installed incorrectly. It does cycle with the ignition and the pin hole aligns with the notch in the cam. Can someone tell me how to tell through the exhaust port if the valve is indexwd correctly. Thanks! Kai Quote
rzcolobanshee Posted October 20, 2005 Report Posted October 20, 2005 I can't remember without looking at the manual if it is open or closed when the key is on....but just look and see if the hole is aligned, this is fully open, the exhaust port should be smooth like there is no powervalve when its fully open, it will be quite obvious if it's upside down Quote
adventurebound Posted October 21, 2005 Author Report Posted October 21, 2005 RZcolo, Thanks for the info. Did you post a picture? OK so wide open the port should have no blockage at all. at low revs the valve should roll closed partially. I will look this weekend. Just got it registered. Thanks for the help! Kai Quote
