Well guys, I am looking for a Banshee, I currently ride a Blaster and want something that will scare me for a while. I figured I would get the most response in this section so I was wondering if any one could point me in the direction for doing an XC buildup, I can't wait to get my bike, hopefully an 03' :)

nope, I am a canuck! Hahaha, I just like the name. I have been looking in the local ads in my area, right now there is only one shee for sale, there will be more in the winter. My Blaster is setup for XC but I just want something that is faster (and liquid cooled). The shee seems to be the next easiest option (parts wise). I know everything will almost cost twice as much but what can you do...

I really want to try and stay loyal with 2-strokes, for what I plan to do with this bike, it would probably better to go with a 250r but they are hard to come by in my area, again there is an 87' for sale right now, but it's $4500. I can purchase a 2000 shee for cheaper then that.

As for parts, I am going to gut my Blaster until I can afford the proper parts. I will be taking off my 30mm carb and my Works shocks. When I get the money I will purchase another 30mm carb and a set of VCATV Phantom shee pipes (I have done a lot of business to Kurt and plan on staying loyal)

I know that the shee has poor bottom end so I am also thinking about dropping a tooth in the front, and running 21" tires in the rear. If there are any links on this forum or other websites that you can direct me to that would be appreciated.

Hey, that's cool...

Well, first off here is the XC forum on this site.

http://www.bansheehq.com/forums/index.php?showforum=28

There's not a whole lot of info in there but it would be the "appropriate" forum to ask questions about XC. Don't make another post, this is just for future reference.

www.rockymountainatv.com is a great place to get parts from...they have a lot of stuff in stock and usually will ship the same day if ordered before 1pm.

If I were to go with an XC setup, I'd run a 2 into 1 carb for sure, it helps with low end response and ease of jetting. You're on the right track about the gearing, probably want to go with a 20" rear tire though. I just purchased a set of Maxxis I-razrs and I love them for woods riding. They hook great and won't bite too hard when you want to slide. You definitely want to look into a new suspension, maybe some aftermarket a-arms and shocks all around.

I've never heard of those pipes before, what kind of power range are they supposed to have? (mid-top, top end only, all around) I know you said you wanted to be loyal to that company, but if that pipe is designed for top end power, you'd be hurting yourself running them through the woods. You want something to start making power right off the bat, rather than have a pipe that really kicks in at 7-8,000 rpms. Make sense?

Another thing you might want to look into is a shorter swingarm. That'll help you out with traction and put more of the power to the ground

Hope this helps a little bit!
