Hello, I'm a new banshee owner, it's an 02 w/Dmc Aliens and K&N filter. I'm not at all happy with the way this unit is running. It seems to start easy and has an OK low and mid range. But it cuts out when I give it everything on the high end. It was so bad that my brother somked me on a 350x 3 wheeler.( what an Embarrassment) I just got the unit yesterday and right away I knew she was not running right. So today I cleaned the carbs and changed the plugs still no good. I did find out that the main jets are 270 and it has a K&N d035a6 filter that looks like it needs to be oiled I did not have any filter oil so I did not do anything to it. Does this sound right for jetting? I think that they may have jet the pipes for the stock filter and then the DPO added the filter later I don't know. Can someone help me? This thing is supposed to whip ass. I will not rest till she does!

Ok, I think that I may have found the problem. I read a jetting faq by a Mr Ben Boal very helpful http://www.dfn.com/benkaren/jetfaq.html ( I'm sure most of you know this and/or have read it ) if not I recommend it. I think that with my pipes and af, running the snorkel and/or the stock airbox lid is a downright bad idea, The motor has to breath. No wonder she cuts out when it's gunned. At least I sure hope this is the prob. I just dropped $3500 on a shee that dose not run that great  Do people drill out thier airbox lids or is it better to just remove it? If I remove it I don't know how to secure the af from bouncing out. Suggestions?

they make an adaptor plate that u can bolt to the air box and then u can clamp your af too it, or u can get pod filters and run no box at all (if u never see ne water when u ride)

or if u dont wanna shelll the money out for an adaptor then u should be able to just run it with out the snorkle i used to run mine that way with t6s and it ran great then when i got some extra $$ i got the adaptor and took that lid off

i think the adaptor cost round 60bucks or somethin someone correct me if im wrong

hope i helped a lil bit

Thanks for the reply, I'm gona try it w/out the snorkel and if that don't do it I will drill out the lid. If that don't do it, I'm stumped. It has to be a lack of air to the engine. :shrugani: At least I sure hope it is.

If I drill out the airbox lid or add foam pods, Should I be increasing my mains to about 300 or so? 270 seems like it might be a bit meek. Im about 700' above sea level.

Guys used to cut off the last inch or two of the air box lid to get more air, this would allow you to use your filter.

I'd suggest saving up the money and get the pro-flow adaptor with either the UNI or K&N filter and running with no lid, do a search, you'll see a long standing debate on that subject. Stock type filter sucks in toooo much dirt.

Do a plug chop at WOT, that is the only way to know for sure about your jetting, plugs are cheap compared to motors. I would guess that you may be too rich with lid on and stock air cleaner.

Well, I got an assortment of jets on the way ranging from 340-290 I will start high and work downward. I also heard the k&n filters are not ideal for dusty conditions. :shrugani: So I think I will just remove the entire airbox and just put on uni foam pods, seein how I will be removing these carbs alot to establish proper jetting. A buddy of mine said that I should replace the stock impeller ASAP w/ a billet one, Do any of you guy agree or dissagree w/ this coarse of action? Damn it, are those jets in yet? banghead
