I'm thinking about doing a top end rebuild... my compression is about 105 or so give or take a little and it is probably a good idea to do this as a project over the winter. I'm exploring my options, but would like to know who makes the best top ends? By this I mean in terms or durability, reliability, power output, and so on. And well over the stock setup, what kind of a difference would this make? would it even be noticable? :shrugani:

You might try the search link at the top of the page before you start new posts. There is tons of info that has allready been discussed. IMO wiseco makes the best pistons.

just get the regular wesicos from rockymountainatv.com or something. if you are on stock bore, get .20 over pistons, give them and your cylinders to a machine shop, delaership, or whatever so they can bore and hone it to that piston. there is really no real diffrence between pistons, companies claim HP gains but most of that is bullshit. the only real diffrence between wesicos and stock is that you must warm the shee up real good before riding it since it is a forged piston. also becasue its a forged piston it is much stronger than stock, i got them in my shee, been running since december, still got 150 PSI from when i checked then to when i checked this week!!! thats durability :headbang:

Wiseco for a forged piston and pro-x for a cast. Both have their benefits. A cast piston will seal better and will have less friction which will have more power and less bore wear. A forged piston is stronger, weight savings isn't that significant but they are usually lighter but not in all cases. Forged will last longer but will require more frequent rebores. Decide whther you want to replace pistons or rebore cylinders. I would defintely use wiseco if you plan on using nitrous or alcohol.

No, I can safely say that I won't be using nitrous or anything like that. But if I get say the wiseco pistons, but don't rebore the cylinders, just leave it stock, is it possible that my cylinders might already be worn and the new top end might not have the same compression as it should? Should you always rebore when replacing the top end?
