So i got a 2002 Banshee with SST Gold Series pipes, a White Brother boost bottle, FMF reed valves, shaved head, advanced the timing and a K&N filter. I put a 30 pilot jet, a 280 main and my needle clip is at the highest spot it can be(it's where it works the best)..

That said i've got a nasty problem in the mid range. It sputters real bad at pretty much anything over 1/2 trottle then it's ok and revs well( it used to do it before i did the timing change).

I've read around and no one seems to change the needle so I'm wondering if somewhere else there could be a problem or is it just mine that need this needle change.

BTW. I'm at around 1000 ft.

Is your airbox lid off? Ive got fmf sst pipes and a K&N filter with the lid off at 1000ft. running a 320 main,30 pilot, middle clip position (stock), airscrews 2.0 turns out. Your problem is you needle clip position, put it back in the middle and see if that helps, might even go another notch over if that doesnt fix the problem.

Try 27.5 pilots and the clip notch on the middle slot. The lid just unsnaps. If you have a K&N filter you should allready have flange that the filter clamps to, so no you do not need anything to seal the filter. Just remeber to clean and reoil it with a K&N recharger kit (can get one at most auto part stores).

What i mean is the lid keeps the flange sealed to the box. Is it safe to run just like that? Theres no way it can pop out when hitting bumps and stuff? I'm using a stock flange, i just cut out the ribs and put the K&N on.

I also put the needle back to the middle and no changes... still did the same.

EDIT:

I took the lid off, and screwed the flange to the air box to be sure it doenst popout. That seems to have fixed my problem. It runs real well now. Last night I made a run and checked the plugs. Very nice orange-brown color and it was cool outside.

I was also wondering if there's a dyno chart of the SST pipes as i would like to see the power curve.

And also a very big thank you for your help Banshee~.

Oh I see what your saying, I got THIS airbox flange from nossmachine on mine. It is 10 times better than the stock plastic one, because it has an o-ring seal and bolts onto the airbox. I put some silicone around it to make sure any dirt did not get in my motor. If you order one, tell them your on bansheehq and you get a 10% discount!

Ok, I had the same problem as you with the mid range. Im not trying to sell you everything that nossmachine makes, but when I put on the NOSSMACHINE COOLHEAD with 21cc domes it fixed it. My friend said that the increase of compression might help it, which it did. And he also said that I might try a dynojet needle, but you have to buy the jet kit which it like $60 and I allready have all the jets I need. IMO you should get a coolhead, because it will help your bike run alot cooler and will help the mid range.
