Street Legal Quads

Why can mopeds, street/trails, and all those little toys become street legal and not quads. I know they can in some states, but why not others. Isnt there ways around the law. Anybody know how in PA?

If i'm right you have to get dot approved tires, horn, turn signals, brake lights, ect.. . almost every thing you would find on a car. (i think even seat belts in some cases) and have it registerd as a car since it has 4 wheels. There was some guy from some where overseas (i think) in the last post about this. he has his registerd as a 3 wheeled motor cycle, special modifications: 4th wheel. I guess easiest way would be call the dmv and ask

Obviously you don't get out much. Most places don't care anymore about emission from 2 strokes on the road... otherwise people with older 2 stroke street bikes like RZ 350s couldn't ride on the streets. Here in Montana, you only need a horn, tail light, head lights, a mirror, a perm. offroad sticker, and a motorcycle plate. Other areas reguire more such as signal lights and reflecters. It's all about the area you live in. Contact your DMV or local tag agency. They'll be more help than anyone on here.

There is a little town just north of us that is the same. All you need is headlight and tail light and you can ride ur quad on the street. It's a very small town though, like maybe 400 people or something.
