cross71 Posted July 23, 2005 Report Posted July 23, 2005 I WAS JUST WONDERING IF ANYONE CAN TELL ME HOW TO TEST THE SECONDARY IGNITION COIL ON MY BANSHEE? I THOUGHT I WAS DOING IT RIGHT BY GOING FROM PLUG WIRE TO COIL BUT NOT SURE.. Quote
Rare Scottish Tree Badger Posted July 23, 2005 Report Posted July 23, 2005 Yeah, that's right: Plug lead to -ve (black wire) terminal on coil. Looking for 4700 - 7100 Ohms. Rare. Quote
cross71 Posted July 23, 2005 Author Report Posted July 23, 2005 thats what i though t thanks... im reading ofl... but the weird thing is that there is still a spark, it might not be strong enough to start the quad though right? Quote
Rare Scottish Tree Badger Posted July 23, 2005 Report Posted July 23, 2005 Also check your plug caps for 5,000 Ohms. ... The spark should be able to jump a gap of 6mm without the plug cap fitted. Make sure your spark plugs are clean. Should be good to go. EDIT: Just realised you said you were "reading off". ... Didn't work out "ofl". . .... How far off? ... When the cylinder's in compression, a weak spark is not going to make the gap. Rare. Quote
cross71 Posted July 23, 2005 Author Report Posted July 23, 2005 The multi meter is reading OFL when i do the test. I'm just gonna buy a new coil and plugs and see if the bike will run. thanks for the help. Quote
