ledofthezep Posted July 20, 2005 Report Posted July 20, 2005 Went to Waynoka to the dunes last Thursday the 14th for the weekend and the 1st ride twenty minutes out my buddy breaks his new Vitos crank! Broke right off at the end of the taper with the crank bearing, seal and flywheel attached. Never seen that happen before. I get home Sunday and my right side top D arm is cracked halfway around, kinda glad I didn't go for one last night ride! Other than the unusual breakdowns we had a great time, and rode with HoleshotKid his fam, and Super88_Banshee. 394681 Damn...sucks for your bud; bet it got rather drunk out for him throughout the weekend! Wonder wtf caused that, contacted vitos yet to ask them? Oh yeah...now ya got a reason to get you an a-arm conversion kit on there! Quote

Oh yeah...now ya got a reason to get you an a-arm conversion kit on there! 394691 Fortunately we had another friend coming over Friday morning, we had him bring over my buddys wife's banshee. Just pulled the motor down this evening so he hasn't contacted Vitos yet. Crank only has about 4 dune trips on it! Yea, I have already talked to JD Performance about the D arm. They said they would replace it, but I talked them into swapping the D's for top A-arms and I'm going to do the conversion. Mosquitos were killer as soon as the sun started going down too! Way too much standing water over there. Quote

It was a fun trip thou, and now mine is fixed too. We had the head gasket go out and it kept overheating. Also..the plastic impeller melted and warped, but we fixed that out in the sand Edited July 22, 2005 by super88_banshee Quote
decon Posted July 23, 2005 Report Posted July 23, 2005 went to a place called carnegie today in norcal. real dusty over the summer. a banshee, a craptor, and a yfz450. it was pretty fun but the trails are a beatin. bumpy roads, some sections with rocks. nice hills though, love to climb. I actually got stuck on one. im on the craptor following a banshee, so dusty that I couldnt really see the hill too good, should've waited for him to go up. so i end up on the wrong side of the hill where there is a big ditch, and i get stuck. had to turn around and come back up the right way. the place was confusing though, we were going backwards through trails and all around, good thing no one was there really. we went backwards through this real tight trail, good thing we didnt have extended a-arms, I mean that trail was tighter than a virgins pussy. it was pretty fun minus the dust, next time we should hit up pismo beach as we mostly do over the summer. they have a couple of mx tracks at carnegie, pretty nice ones. sometimes they have hillclimbing competitions too. one time we went there while a competition was going on, I mean that place was packed. and it was right after it rained, so the dirt was lookin good. still lookin for a shee, tired of this craptor. holeshotkid Posted July 23, 2005 Report Posted July 23, 2005 I was waiting to see those pics Ron. Wow, that crank is completely f'd. I figured that it just spun, not broke. I would hope Vito's helps Mark out with that. Had a great time riding with you guys, in spite of all those damn mosquitos. I'm glad we located another can of bug spray, those damn things were huge! I only had a slight hangover on sunday morning...... Let me know when your heading back down there. Quote
rjvoight Posted July 26, 2005 Author Report Posted July 26, 2005 Man reading through some of those reminds me how bad a great trip can go if your bike takes dump or tosses you off. Sounds like everyone is ok though and gettin back in the saddle shortly. going again tuesday morning. I love having days off in the middle of the week. Thinking bout heading to Winchester, see if they are setting anything up for Dune Fest yet. I would love to go this weekend but it is going to be a mad house. Needed to make reservations last year at this time for this year. Got the 'shee all shined up looking pretty. Got a guy coming with an LRD outfitted Raptor. He's thinking he's gonna hand me my a$$ all day long. He's got another thing coming. The bike is new to him but I am good friends with the guy he bought it from. I know I can beat it...done it before....gonna do it again. Anyway, should be a good time, if I get any pictures that are worth anything I will post em up. RJV Quote
