Holyman Posted July 16, 2005 Report Posted July 16, 2005 I'm looking for shock covers and I saw the neoprene covers with the zippers on the back. Is anyone using these? How do they hold up on trails? Quote
NickyPap Posted July 16, 2005 Report Posted July 16, 2005 Well I'm using the shockwears kinda like a vinyl material and even tho I only have works I'm happy they are keeping them clean and I think that if you can keep dirt/mud off of the actual rod of the shock it's gotta be prolonging the life of the shocks. -also makes clean up from a messy ride very simple. hope this helps alittle. SANDSTAR Posted July 17, 2005 Report Posted July 17, 2005 If you don't keep the shock covers clean, they will destroy the pc on your springs. Also, if you get them wet, it takes alot longer for the shock to dry.(rust issues) I have never run them, but I had a friend that was really pissed after taking covers off of his Elkas after a year of riding. They looked rusted and scraped like someone took 200 grit sandpaper to the spring. The neoprene had chaffed clear through the powder coat in some places. They are good for hiding your old beat up shocks, but I wouldn't put them on new shocks. Quote
Holyman Posted July 18, 2005 Author Report Posted July 18, 2005 Thanks... that's just what I needed to know. I finally put on my triple rates and want to keep 'em nice but water WILL get in there and if it can't get out, it'll be worse than just having them rock chipped. I guess I'll stick with the regular style. Quote
