MILO Posted July 18, 2005 Report Posted July 18, 2005 my dad called our cable co. to bitch about the rates going up again, and asked for 1 good reason why he shouldn't switch to a dish. besides the normal local channel shit, which isn't really true, the rep went into a big bullshit story about his aunt. she got a dish, and the guys hooked it up an whatever and it worked fine for a few weeks, then all she would get on her tv was a pic of a leaf. fed up she called the dish co., and they came back and said that since the leaves are coming back on the trees(springtime) that they'd have to move her dish, cuz she was seeing the leaves on the tree near the dish. which left holes in her house roof where they mounted it the first time. she got billed 2x for mounting the dish and setting it up, but she didn't have to watch a leaf flapping in the wind 24/7 on her tv. but she did have a leak in her roof when it rained which caused water damage inside her house, and the dish co. isn't responsible for fixing it, so she got a ladder and headed for the roof to fix the hole, and fell off the ladder and broke her ankle. so now she's in the hospital, with a broken ankle watching cable tv that she had to begin with. after being enticed with the wonderful cable service while in the hospital, she decided to go back to her previous cable co. and forget the hassle of the dish. the rep asked my dad if he wanted to go thru that kind of bs just from switching from cable to a dish system. my dad told him after that line of shit, he's cancelling his cable service after the next month, which was already paid up. the rep offered him a 60 day discount to avoid losing a customer. my dad, said great, now i have 60 days to decide which dish company to go with. Screamin_Demon Posted July 18, 2005 Report Posted July 18, 2005 Ok... here's some insider info about DirecTV and Dishnetwork... from someone who's worked for DirecTV and is from Oklahoma. Don't worry... I won't sway your opinion for commision or sales... considering I no longer work for DirecTV, and haven't for almost 2 years. DirecTV is faaaarrrrrr better than Dishnetwork as far as prices, programming, and customer service. DirecTV offers more channels for your money than Dish... hands down. Dishnetwork's customer service actually referred a customer to DirecTV with a problem with Their receiver. I shit you not... I picked up the call from a woman who lost her signal and called Dish to find out what the problem was... only to be referred to DirecTV because they couldn't find her Dish account, and when the lady gave them her receiver's card number, the rep told her that it wasn't one of theirs, it was DirecTV's. The lady was so pissed off that she called us, told me that Dish obviously didn't want her as a customer, and said she was switching to DirecTV because of it. Last thing... DirecTV is extremely easy to get free programming from with no commitments. If you get setup between now and september, I believe, you'll be able to get over 250 bucks of programming per month at a cost of 89 or so a month, for 4 months, then you can drop back to normal programming. I may be off on the cost since it's been awhile and prices probably went up a bit. The offer is the NFL Sunday ticket new customer promotion. As far as anything after that... you can usually get showtime free for a month or so, as well as some others, just by calling and saying you weren't happy with some programming or the cost, and it's too expensive to add movie channels... or something to that effect. I gave out free showtime during their promotional all the time... as credit for missed ppv movies, over charges on bills, or as compensation for technical issues. DirecTV is almost always willing to through out some free programming instead of refunding you money that you've already paid... it's advertisment for the networks, and hopefully, if you like the free programming, more money for them if you order it later. And yes... the P4 + cards, and the test ones... H1 I think ( they were in limited circulation when I left) are in fact able to be hacked. It'll just cost you around 500 bucks if you can find someone to do it. But you get everything... even all the PPVs, sports packages, movie channels... etc... you makeup the cost in about 2 weeks during sports seasons. Just some FYI Quote
