Killdmycobra Posted June 15, 2005 Report Posted June 15, 2005 stock bike now. Want to put T-5's, cool head, v-force 3 reeds, open air box with intake, and bump up the timing. My question is should i bump up the timing with an aftermarket CDI (if so which one) or get the timing plate?? Also, what is the highest compression that should be put on the stock internals (ie. which domes)??? I am at sea level. If you guys have any other suggestions for mods, please feel free to suggest. I wouldn't get an aftermarket cdi though if you are going to advance the timing. I just got vforce2's and they helped a lot. I would go with them because they are a little cheaper and I think that they are just as good as the 3's. Get your flywheel lightened by boonman while you advance your timing, and might as well get the shiftstar mod too. I just did all the above and they helped alot. As far as domes I don't understand your question. I live at sea level too and these are some things you should consider. Do you want to run pump or race gas, or 50/50? Depending on how far you advance your timing will have a bearing on this too. dlnoss told be that with the +4 timing I could possibly get away with 21cc without cutting the gas. Anything lower I would have to cut or run straight race fuel. Quote
Banshee17Racing Posted June 15, 2005 Report Posted June 15, 2005 Sounds like a pretty good list to start with. You should like the T-5's...I've ran those for two years. I would look into a Noss Machine Performance Head, they look great, perform even better, and very easy to install, plus the owner, Dave is a memeber here (dlnoss). It depends on what your elevation is to decide what domes you want to run. I personally run 21cc domes w/150psi @ 750 ft above sea level and 93 octane. I've heard you can run up to 160 psi without needing any high octane fuel, but for me..that's too close for comfort. I'm not too sure on the V-force 3 reeds. I haven't heard much about them yet. I run V-force 2's and love 'em....theres plenty mroe guys here that swear by the 2's, too. I would only run an open filter if you plan on staying out of the wet stuff. I'd also get the Timing Plate...which I also have. I really don't think it matters which brand you get, but I've got a Pro Design at +4 degrees. Hope this helps Quote

If i can go to 20ccs with the stock crank and advanced timing i will do it. Edited June 15, 2005 by Killdmycobra Quote

You think i coudl get away with 19 or 20cc's at sea level with the bumped up timing??? Quote
05bansh Posted June 16, 2005 Report Posted June 16, 2005 (edited) I run 19's and +4 on my timing. I beleive I ride at 4000ft. I run 50/50 or 70/50 110 Sunoco and premuim pump. Your best bet would be to contact Dlnoss here on the board or on his site http://www.nossmachine.com He should be able to tell exactly what you need. Edited June 16, 2005 by 05bansh Quote
Ducman Posted June 16, 2005 Report Posted June 16, 2005 Sounds like a good mod list. I'd probably go no further than 20cc domes and +4 timing on the stock crack and run the 100LL. Or go with 21cc domes and +4 on pump gas. The stock crank is kind of a craps shoot on how much it will take and for how long with out welding, the higher the compression the higher the odds of separating/twisting. The only thing I read in your post that may need clarification is that if you run an aftermarket CDI, most will advance your timing around +3 so you dont want to add very much more timing than that. CDI just plugs in; 5 min install which is convienient. Probably just get the rickey stator timing plate for $35, its more ecomical. I'd also add lighten flywheel to your list, might as well get it done while its off to install the timing plate. Quote
