edzbanshee Posted June 14, 2005 Report Posted June 14, 2005 When you guys change a jet and change your plug to check for lean/rich, do you put a new plug in, immediately do a WOT run and pull it or do you first do some normal riding for a bit and then do a WOT run? The reason I ask is because my quad has been bogging out on top and the plug was black when I pulled it (looked very rich). I put a new plug in without even dropping a jet size yet, started it up and made a WOT run without doing ANY riding, shut it down while still WOT, pulled the plug and it was dry and almost as white as it was when it was new. I'm just wondering if a new plug will change to the color (ie: chocolate brown) if it was only used for a 6-8 second run without any riding beforehand or if you're supposed to do some regular riding first. BrianEb Posted June 14, 2005 Report Posted June 14, 2005 This is what I know about jetting and plugs. First let the shee warm up to proper operating temp. Let it idel for a while. Then find a nice area to get hrough all the gears and when your in six gear for awhile pull in the clutch and switch the red switch to the off position and coast to a stop. let the cylinder head cool down take out your plug and take a look. If anybody has heard differnetly let us know. Quote
