Meat Posted September 13, 2002 Author Report Posted September 13, 2002 Why couldnt I use an RZ tranny and just gear it down with simple sprocket changes. Is the RZ gear spacing that bad for off roading? I could run a 13 tooth front sprocket and fine tune it by changin the rear sprocket tooth count. Whats up with the dogs on the 2 trannys, are they the same, some one said 3 dogs on the Banshee, 6 on the RZ gears. Whats the story with the "dogs" I could probably score an RZ tranny for about half the price of a Banshee's. Plus it would be another true "RZ" part on the quad. Quote
rzcolobanshee Posted September 13, 2002 Report Posted September 13, 2002 This should give you an idea of the differences meat, this is the difference in mph at 10,000 rpm through all the gears. You can see 1st is slower on the rz and just how much faster it is 3-5. 1 1.28896599 2 -0.782440696 3 -6.82538545 4 -9.146195183 5 -6.121377932 6 1.334383568 BTW, I changed my mind the other day and decided i would put in the banshee gears while i had it apart. I wish i had more time to try the rz gears...but i know the shee gears are good, so i figured i'd change them and part out the shee motor on ebay. If anyone needs any banshee motor parts i've got it all for sale, I'll make a detailed post in the auction forum Quote
Holyman Posted September 13, 2002 Report Posted September 13, 2002 Good topic. I'm not planning to tear down my RZ engines to swap out the gears. I think the banshee gears would have to be in excellent condition to do the mix-n-match deal. I'd rather deal with the RZ gearing the way it is. If I blew it up, then I'd probably mix-n-match but only if the banshee gears were like new. I can't see spending the bucks {if I didn't already have the banshee tranny} to put the banshee gears in. On the other question... The RZ and Banshee engine cases are the same for all practical purposes. There.s a few extra holes in the RZ case for oil injectors or tac gears or whatever. The big diff is the jugs and head. They are NOT the same. You must use an RZ head with RZ jugs. Some have said you can heavily modify an RZ head to fit banshee jugs but I can't image why that would be necessary. I have also been told from a reliable source that the ports are not the same nor are they mapped the same. Quote
Meat Posted September 13, 2002 Author Report Posted September 13, 2002 I hope to use RZ cases. I want a tach and a nuetral light indicator. Quote

Fasttoy Posted October 26, 2004 Report Posted October 26, 2004 Hi guys,i have run both tranies. The banshee trans with a 15 or 16 front 41 rear is about the same as the rz trans in gear spaceing .But you will have good top end,if you have the power to pull it,about 100 to 105 mph.at about 10500 rpm.In my mind both are good, you just have to get used to what ever one you go with.
