D_Banshee_Man Posted June 10, 2005 Report Posted June 10, 2005 I recently found out that my rear hub on the back of my Banshee was loose. I believe that the bearing is shot on the sprocket side. I plan on replacing both bearings but the guy at my local Yamaha service center told me that the bearings were pressed in? Is this true? I never had very good luck with press fit stuff. My question is this a job i can do or do i need a full blown mechanic shop? Thanks Quote

If they weren't the outer race would spin. If there is much more than .005 the bearing would seize. You need a brass drift, and a heavy hammer. You GENTLY tap from the opposite side, on the outer or inner race of the bearing which ever you can get to. Doesn't matter much if its a junked bearing, working in a circle to get it out evenly. Once you get one side out, the other side is much easier to get at. If you need some bearings I got some in stock. Quote
