ban1 Posted May 28, 2005 Report Posted May 28, 2005 just got a used banshee that has these mods coolhead w/18cc domes vitos super stk pistons boysen carbon fiber reeds spacers and 34 mm keihin flat slide carbs here is my problem, about 1/4 throttle it has a serious bog (almost throw ya over the handle bars ) and then takes off like a bat out of hell changed main jets fron 128 to 120s and pilots from 40s to 35s moved needle clip down all the way and didnt make any diff NEED HELP THANKS Quote
Wallynut Posted May 28, 2005 Report Posted May 28, 2005 If it's okay now, use that as a starting point, but if not, go back to the needle position and main that was in it before as your starting point. Seeing how you just bought it, I would do a WOT plug chop to see how the main is. To many people have blown motors not knowing they are running lean. 1/8 to 1/4 throttle is likely the pilot/air screw, with the needle setting overlapping @1/4 throttle. Do a seach on what others have been running for jets for your setup, there's quite a few running 34's. I know it takes longer, but try only messing with one circuit at a time to isolate your problem. post what you have for pipes, air temps, and elevation. I have found that with the warmer weather (finally), that I've needed to go leaner, just a suggestion. Quote
ban1 Posted May 28, 2005 Author Report Posted May 28, 2005 i have bills pipes temp is 80 elevation is about 4500 ft plugs that were in it were BLACK & WET with fuel plugs look better now but still a little dark brown Quote
rocketboy Posted May 29, 2005 Report Posted May 29, 2005 stop starring at your plugs and guessing what to change . its likely your pilot jetting .do the choke trick ,if it runs better wih the choke out at 1/4 throttle then your lean on the pilots ,if it sputters and runs even worse your too rich on the pilots. put the needle in the middle before the choke trick too. also your way overcarbed for your mods and motor IMO and youll never get good bottom end out of those either.IMHO Quote
