endofitall9 Posted May 19, 2005 Report Posted May 19, 2005 an over-ride transmission is usually only used for drag it makes it possible to shift under full throttle without letting off the throttle , they usually only come with 5 gears and from what i know most of the gears are automatic. Quote
racer Posted May 19, 2005 Report Posted May 19, 2005 also known as a cut tranny. if youve ever had your cases split youd notice the 6 stud thingies stickin off of the sides of the gears, the dogs i believe they are called. well in an override you remove some of these, that way when you shift under a full load you have a better chance of getting gear, and everything meshing properly. the downside is that when you back off the gas these now have an extreme amount of play. this play gives the transmission hell and isnt very reliable. so you have to pull in the clutch everytime you wanna slow down or youll smash the gears up. they arent very good for trails, typically a drag only mod. i think thats everything, someone wanna back me up on that?
