moookie132 Posted May 18, 2005 Report Posted May 18, 2005 ANyone have this mod.. and if so is it any good? Quote
Wallynut Posted May 18, 2005 Report Posted May 18, 2005 If you trail ride, it's good. If your a dune ride, I would guess that your gonna always be looking for more power (aka top end speed), you will want to stick with dual carbs. There's always some messing with jetting till you get it where you want it. Easy to work on, less jets to buy, and no stuck throttle after going thru water!!! Quote
frocashmoney24 Posted May 18, 2005 Report Posted May 18, 2005 great for low end, like trails, or mx, if your ripping it up in sand, go duals. Quote
sredish Posted May 18, 2005 Report Posted May 18, 2005 No offense, but I'm going to wager that you didn't try searching... cause you'd still be reading.... I had really good low end in mine, but still killer top end. Wouldn't run anything else. I had a pair of 34mm Flatsides to put on and just decided last night that I like the single so much, I'm selling the 34's and getting another single 35, but airstryker this time and a Graydon intake. Dark Ranger Posted May 18, 2005 Report Posted May 18, 2005 I love mine. Wouldn't switch back for anything. Much easier to jet. Helps the low and mid a lot and I haven't noticed any loss on the top end. Quote

400rednEX Posted May 18, 2005 Report Posted May 18, 2005 how much porting/power can a 35mm single support? Quote
Dark Ranger Posted May 18, 2005 Report Posted May 18, 2005 Why isnt water a problem(aka stuck throttle) in water with the single anymore?? 370893[/snapback] The stock carbs (not all of them) have a problem with sticking if you go through water. Most any aftermarket carb will fix the problem. Quote

Wallynut Posted May 19, 2005 Report Posted May 19, 2005 I had problems everytime I went thru water with stock carbs, especially in the spring and fall when the temps were colder. Drove me nuts. When riding with some others, we would like to switch bikes to see what each ride was like. Well I was always worried about someone getting hurt, especially me. With the single carb, never a concern. Now I don't hesitate when I see water, instead of going around water, I just aim for it! Now I only have to worry about getting stuck in the deep stuff. The question isn't "why isn't a sticking throttle a problem with a single carb", but why is it a problem with stock carbs? Quote

I did have my pwk slide stick once in the dunes, but I think it was due to sand in the fuel and it got into the slide. It also clogged my pilot in the same deal. That was before the inline filter. Dark Ranger Posted May 19, 2005 Report Posted May 19, 2005 About a year or so ago we had a thread for sticking carbs that was really really long that tried to track all the reasons and fixes for the sticking carbs. See if you can find it. Basically it came down to the stock carbs just suck and if you go aftermarket the problem goes away. BTW, moookie132, where is the rest of the video that goes with that clip you play for your avatar? Come on, it's only polite to share. Quote
