Reed replacement

How often does everyone in here change out their reeds? I have 3 quads with V-Force on them, 2 Banshees and a Blaster. I'm obvioulsy gonna keep the set up, just starting to think about changing the reeds out. Thanks.

i dont know about the v- forces but with regular reeds you can flip them over to get more life out of them.i would like to know also about v-forces because i have them now

I change my V-force every year.It depends how you ride.If your "into"excessive over revv or you run wide open trail,your probably gonna eat up reeds alot faster than Joe trail rider.

 

I like a snappy throttle and crisp power in the lower rpms,so I change them often.

Basically when your reed pedal dosen't sit flat on the reed cage like superchicken said you can flip them over to extend the life of them.

 

The purpose of the reeds is to close and make an airtight seal while the piston is on the downstroke so there is some compression in the lower case. when the piston reaches the bottom of the cylinder the compression forces the gas/air into the combustion chamber through holes in the cylinder that are now open.

 

if your reeds are not airtight you will not get the proper compression to force the mix into your cylinder thus creating loss of performance.
