lian Posted April 12, 2005 Report Posted April 12, 2005 im gona be taking my motor out to get some work done on it and need to know how much i will be looking at for new haskets and all the stuff you have to replace when you take it out im lookin at getting new rings on it and getting it ported plus do do i have to get the head off the bike to get at the pistons becouse thats 20 more bucks on my small budget Quote

If you have bottom end work to do, then by all means, remove the motor. I never have thought about removing the cylinders with the head on, but again, why would you want to do that? Its going to have to come off to do any honing/boring, porting or head work... Pay attention when youre putting it back together to make sure that head bolts are tightened in the correct order and to the correct torque in stages. Just my $.02 worth. Your mileage may vary. Quote
