kw04 Posted March 21, 2005 Report Posted March 21, 2005 (edited) alright keep fouling plugs here. center of plug is a nice chocolate brown. coloring on the stap is half way. but the ring where the strap is connected to is still silver. now from that ring being silver i think it is running lean but where top or bottom. when your riding you will get some oil coming out the silencers. what gives cant figure it out. oh yea when you pull the choke out it and rev it. it bogs if thats any help. 380 main stock pilot forgot which slot the clip is on sorry 4mil stroker bored 20 over 20cc domes w/cool head vforce 2 with spacer plate K&N pods timing +3deg fmf fatties at about see level if you need anything else let me know Edited March 21, 2005 by kw04 Quote
stclark816 Posted March 21, 2005 Report Posted March 21, 2005 If you are fouling plugs, you are too rich. Also, blowing stuff out the silencers is a sign of being too rich. I take it these are stock carbs? Might want to invest in some bigger carbs for your stokers full potential. Having any idling problems? Quote
Ducman Posted March 21, 2005 Report Posted March 21, 2005 How long have you been running this motor? It took my 4mm motor about 3 tanks of gas before it seamed like it was totally broke in and quit spitting oil. It also seamed to be running really rich at first, which it was but only on the needle. Did the person that did the porting have any jetting suggestion? When I did my 4mm setup, dune port, bored stock carbs, foam filter W/ stock airbox - lid off, the builder told me that 330 mains should be big enough. He said that typically ported stock crank motors will need a bigger main that a stroker because the shorter stroke doesn't pull fuel out of the carbs as efficiently as a stroker. Just throwing out some ideas. I would think 380's should be plenty big and if your fouling plugs, maybe too big. But you could be fouling due to a rich needle. If it starts and idles for a long time without dieing then I doubt it the pilots. How is it running off Idle, mid range and top end? How many sets of plugs did you foul, how fast, and what type of riding, ie how much were you on the pipe WOT? Quote
kw04 Posted March 21, 2005 Author Report Posted March 21, 2005 (edited) yea it wont idle. when you turn the idle screws in the left carb slide sticks and wont close all the way. so i think ill clean it with a brillo pad. next i think i will try 370 main jet. oh yea when you hit a little water and get some on the air filter depending which side it is. that is usually the plug to foul. but would that do that if water is getting in to it. not alot just a few dropd? bottom to mid a little sluggish Edited March 21, 2005 by kw04 Quote
stclark816 Posted March 21, 2005 Report Posted March 21, 2005 Ur pilots are too small. Try a 27.5 or a 30. Quote
kw04 Posted March 22, 2005 Author Report Posted March 22, 2005 yea i was thinking 30 pilots. stock is 27.5 now i just have to order them Quote
kw04 Posted March 23, 2005 Author Report Posted March 23, 2005 i had it sitting right in front of me and still put the wrong thing stupid stupid. Quote
kw04 Posted March 24, 2005 Author Report Posted March 24, 2005 finally got it to idle.. the guy who put the idle srews in drill the hole at a slight angle. so i shaved the srew and bam we now have an idle. also put the 370 in and will have to wait until tommorrow to take it for a ride. Quote
kw04 Posted March 25, 2005 Author Report Posted March 25, 2005 its now running pretty good but why do i get some oil out of the silencers??? Quote
stclark816 Posted March 25, 2005 Report Posted March 25, 2005 You could be too rich, what do your plugs look like? Quote
kw04 Posted March 26, 2005 Author Report Posted March 26, 2005 yea just a little rich i think i need around a 310 main and i will be good but that will have to wait until monday. thn we will see how it goes. Quote
