sp1tekiller Posted March 18, 2005 Report Posted March 18, 2005 I read that for adding pipes and silencers to a Banshee you should o up by 8 sizes on the mains, 2 sizes on the pilot and adjust the airscrews. What if I only put pipes on? Would this jetting be OK, or would it be different? Quote
richybanshee Posted March 18, 2005 Report Posted March 18, 2005 (edited) You will need to re-jet, pipes change how fst gases are pull out of the engine and all sorts of things. If you are going to put a set of pipes, I recomend you put the silencers that are supposed to be used with does pipes. Else your shee may not run as you may want it to or gain the power the manufacturers say the pipes should make. Usually when you bolt on pipes we jet like 8 sizes bigger bacause intsruction for some of the pipes say ... take off snorkle or some times we take off the whole lid. Even with stock pipes and no airlbox lid or air box off you should re-jet. More air = (More fuel needed to be burn) = (makes more power) Edited March 18, 2005 by richybanshee Quote
sp1tekiller Posted March 18, 2005 Author Report Posted March 18, 2005 OK, let me re-word it. If I put on Aftermarket pipes, and used the stock silcners, would 8 sizes on the mains and 2 sizes on the pilot be good or would I have to go like lets say 7 sizes on the mains or what? Quote
richybanshee Posted March 18, 2005 Report Posted March 18, 2005 (edited) I can not predict how many sizes on the mains you will need to go up from the stock 200. What the hell, I can not say for sure what type of jetting change you will need. Why? Too many pipe brands and variables, and not a lot of people do want you intend. Pipes and silencers are made to function as one unit. Changing silencers will have and effect on performance and sound. In my opninion, putting aftermarket pipes with stock silencers will not give you the power increase you may hope. Who knows you may as well be loosing power. If you still want to do it .... okay GOOD LUCK You can try 250 mains (5 sizes from stock), take snorkle off, everything else stock. Edited March 18, 2005 by richybanshee Quote
Ducman Posted March 18, 2005 Report Posted March 18, 2005 I don't think the stock silencers will fit any aftermarke pipe and it wouldn't work right like previously mentioned. Don't be afraid to jet your shee, if you want to mod, you'll need to learn anyway. Its only a PITA the first time you do it. Quote
sp1tekiller Posted March 18, 2005 Author Report Posted March 18, 2005 I'm not afraid to jet And yes, the stock silencers will work with some modification (several members here used them with their aftermarket pipes to have spark arrestors). I know that I should get the pipes and the silencers, but I'm not made of money Quote
richybanshee Posted March 18, 2005 Report Posted March 18, 2005 (edited) So do what you got to do. After that ... some time in the future ... get does silencers. Or else, check on ebay. Maybe you can find a great deal on some used but in good condition pipes and silencers. Edited March 18, 2005 by richybanshee Quote
Ducman Posted March 18, 2005 Report Posted March 18, 2005 You could always getcha pair of DG's with silencers? Quote
sp1tekiller Posted March 19, 2005 Author Report Posted March 19, 2005 I tried to buy a few pairs, but they always get bid up too high on ebay. Quote
spoin39 Posted March 22, 2005 Report Posted March 22, 2005 I run the stock silencers with my T5's when I need them, no need to rejet, I don't think just a silencer causes a need for rejetting, mine always runs fine with them on. Quote
