no front brakes

sunday we went down to the beach for a ride,well i ran down to the store, leaving my son and a friend to watch the bikes, well my buddy thought he would take the shee for a ride while i was gone, i get back, get on my bike, no fuc-ing front brakes, i have nothing at all, i am assuming that the master cylinder is bad . it is full of fluid and i can't get any pressure at the calipers, today i tried to bleed one side and could barely get any fluid out .has anyone used the rebuild kit on the master cylinder? i found one for $16 on ebay i am just wanting to know if the kit holds up or should i purchase a used master cylinder
