PolyKarbon Posted March 13, 2005 Report Posted March 13, 2005 (edited) First off, I know there are 3 chain rollers. One on the swing arm, one above it, and one below it. Well, the roller on the swing arm is stuck, and I dont know how to route the chain through the other rollers. I believe the chain goes above the lowest roller, above the swing arm roller, and below the topmost roller correct? Ok, so whats wrong with my swing arm roller? Its stuck. And how do I loosen my chain, and how loose should it be? Thanks in advance. Edited March 13, 2005 by PolyKarbon Quote
SICK BOY Posted March 13, 2005 Report Posted March 13, 2005 (edited) Yes,the chain goes on top of the lower roller, around the swingarm roller, and under the top roller. If the one roller is stuck,it's probley the bearing.Take the roller off and clean it up real good with WD40,if it won't free up you can buy a new roller with bearings for around $10.To loosen your chain brake free the lock nuts on the chain adjusters and back them off. Then loosen the top and bottom carrier nuts and thats that.I tighten my chain intill there is about a half inch movement on the top.I also know people that strap the garb bar down to the swingarm and tighten the chain up,and they say it's perfect once they loosen the strap.GOOD LUCK Edited March 13, 2005 by SICK BOY Quote

ssanddemon Posted March 14, 2005 Report Posted March 14, 2005 The swingarm roller is junk. Mine failed the first time in the dunes. You gotta cut that sucker off and install a chain slider. It will hold up great, totally bulletproof. To adjust the chain, I kneel on the grab bar to squish the suspension and grab the chain. It should be pretty snug, like 1/2" deflection. The less weight on the susp. the looser the chain is. The more, the tighter. Ergo, when you go over a jump and compress it all the way, you had better not have it too tight or it can damage the output shaft bearing, break the chain, or similar- something's gotta give. On the other hand, a loose chain eats sprockets, so you gotta find the happy medium. Quote
