Cotton eyed Joe Posted February 12, 2005 Report Posted February 12, 2005 I plan on lightening the front hubs on my project bike by popping a hole in the webs. I was thinking 1.000 but I don't want to take too much out and risk an integral failure. Anyone have any experience on a hole size that would lighten it enough for racing but not compromise a significant amount of strength?? I also thought about making the holes more of an ellipse or even something like a drop shape if I have enough room for my tooling to get in there at it. Quote
banshee04le Posted February 12, 2005 Report Posted February 12, 2005 Why don't you make yourself some billet ones? You got the tooling and the know how. Quote

bbluebanshee Posted February 12, 2005 Report Posted February 12, 2005 It depends on they style of riding. i have polished a few sets that the web was taken completely out. But they were for sand. I would not reccomend for hard pack. Quote
RNBRAD Posted February 12, 2005 Report Posted February 12, 2005 Do a series of small holes. Maybe start at around a 1/2'' and work towards the hub bolts down to a 1/4'', or 3/4'' to 3/8's or something. Just a thought. Seems like this would be stronger and maybe more effective than a single larger hole. Quote
Cotton eyed Joe Posted February 12, 2005 Author Report Posted February 12, 2005 Word 321951[/snapback] LOL I also have the drawings already made. I'm just looking for a quick and easy solution until I can get this bike in the sand. Quote
