My dad owns a cnc milling machine and i am fairly familier with it. I was wondering if i would be able to bore my own engine. i wanted to know if anyone could give me any tips on how i would go about in doing this and what tools i would need to accoplish this. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I use a boring bar to do cylinder boring as it has 10 inch stroke, you set up once and remove material from the bore in one full stroke. Most boring bars/heads using with a milling maching have trouble doing longer than a 4" stroke so you must move your setup and get it exactly reset again. I'm not saying it can't be done, just a huge pain, and done much easier with a boring bar.
