control arm on 89?

I have a 89 shee and it has an control arm instead of A-arm on top . Doses anyone know if I can change to normal a-arms??? What is differnce positive or neg and can i get aftermarket controlarm?

I'm going to agree with most of what Push said with the exception of the J arm being safer for the frame. Granted the A arm arrangement isn't very strong where it attaches to the frame, but the J arm is really just too narrow where it attaches to the frame. The J arms are always loose because the leverage against the bushings wears them out at least twice as fast as the lowers and over all, you just don't have the benefits of aftermarket parts that you do with A arms.

I read about this on here probably 3 years ago. I think the general Idea was that the J-arm would likely shear the mounting bolt on frontal impact (I'm meaning a tree or hard one wheel landing on the front) where as the a-arm with the distribution of the impact can create a moment on the front of your frame which "can" tweak the frame.
