Cotton eyed Joe Posted January 9, 2005 Report Posted January 9, 2005 rear engine mount bolt wont come out itl like it seized????only thing stoppen me from getten motor out now this happened to any of u?? ifso how u get it out 303974[/snapback] If you've got the front mounts out, you might want to put a jack under the engine to relieve some of the pressure off that rear mount. If all 70+ lbs of that engine is on those mounts alone it will be difficult at best to get that bolt out. Once you get one side out, it will for sure jamb. Quote
BansheeBoy17 Posted January 9, 2005 Report Posted January 9, 2005 Yea just take some pressure off the bolt like joe said, this works the same way with other banshee bolts too (a-arms, shocks, swingarm, etc) Quote
2002bansheeperth Posted January 9, 2005 Author Report Posted January 9, 2005 the bolt is reallllllllly tight like it will only move bout half a turn......front bolts are still in nut comes of back bolt but just wont come out Quote
SICK BOY Posted January 9, 2005 Report Posted January 9, 2005 I think your saying that you have the nut off,but the bolt is stuck in the motor, right? If so put a blunt brass punch on the the bolt and tap it out with a hammer. Quote
2002bansheeperth Posted January 9, 2005 Author Report Posted January 9, 2005 u hit the nail on the head sickboy Quote
frocashmoney24 Posted January 9, 2005 Report Posted January 9, 2005 leave the nut on when you hit it with a hammer thou, that way you wont mess up your threads, but if you end up ruinin it, i got a new bolt ill sell ya Quote
sredish Posted January 9, 2005 Report Posted January 9, 2005 Yep, Sick's right. Put a small jack underneath to take some pressure off the motor and keep it from falling, then take a long blunt punch and tap it out with a hammer. A long thin punch is a necessity in any toolbox. Quote
NugShee Posted January 9, 2005 Report Posted January 9, 2005 Sredish, Id kiss that bolt goodbye. If your talking about the bolt that goes thru the swingarm then by the time you get her out its going to be garbage. It took a lot of coexing with a large sledge hammer to get mine out. Basically there is a sleve in there which the bolt runs thru. the sleve is gets jammed in there and then the bolt rusts to the inside of the sleve. Your going to need the swingarm pivot bolt kit which is around $45. I could be wrong on which bolt you are talking about though since my banshee is at the chromers so I cant go out and look to see for my self. Good Luck with it. Quote
sredish Posted January 9, 2005 Report Posted January 9, 2005 Well, we were talking about the rear engine mount. That one can be tricky because with pressure from the motor, the rubber mounts can hold onto the bolt pretty good. I also tapped out my rear swinger bolt with the same punch. If yours had to be sledged, then it lost the grease and seized, I didn't have that problem with mine. While it was a little rusty, I simply tapped it 3 or 4 times and there was enought to pull it on out. I'd recommend to anyone, getting a grease zerk into that pivot point. Anyway, that's for a different thread... Quote
2002bansheeperth Posted January 9, 2005 Author Report Posted January 9, 2005 the bolt just wont budge..... i think im gunna have to buy new motor bolt..ill have a go with the sledgehammer though... hopefullly ill have me bike at the sandblasters and powdercoaters with in a week wot u guys reckon bout gloss black a-arms swingarm and handle bars nice blue frame|????
