Dr. Overkill Posted December 29, 2004 Report Posted December 29, 2004 Gang, The chain tension adjusters are turned all the way in on my '01 shee but it's still on the loose side. The chain is in apparently good condition according to a MXer friend (he checked it out when we had it off the bike). I have a 13-tooth front sprocket but otherwise stock chain & rear sprocket AFAIK. I was going to pull a link out of the chain, but a friend of mine said he did that with his bike and the chain ended up being too short, even with the adjusters backed out all the way. Should I try the -1 link (will require buying the gizmo to pop out the link) or just plunk down on a new chain (will require more $)? BTW, my Clymer manual says to check the chain with the wheels off the ground, and that it should have 0.6" slack in the middle. I could swear my old factory manual for my '96 shee (which I no longer have) said to check it on the ground and that it should have about 0.75" slack? thanx... _dennis Quote
Redlined Posted December 29, 2004 Report Posted December 29, 2004 Both ways you end up with a chain that is the same length, so, I would recommend buying the chain breaker and shortening your chain. You can always use the chain breaker. If you are starting to play around with the gearing, chances are you Quote
