bigboybanshee Posted December 27, 2004 Report Posted December 27, 2004 I just got a call from my local shop who's boring my cylinders out....they called me to tell me that they bored the first cylinder, and when they did they noticed a small ring gap at the bottom of it. He said the top of the cylinder looked good, it was just enough ring gap at the bottom where he couldn't clean it up without boring it one more size bigger, which would cost me another 150 bucks for pistons and another 3 weeks down time; as well as putting me on my final bore... I told him to just leave it like it was (not to bore it bigger) and to bore the other cylinder to match the pistons and I'll take my chances. So, the question is...Is this something I'm gonna regret later? The way I look at is the most important area of the cylinder is the top, where it combusts.....the bottom of the cylinder is a little bigger anyhow, I shouldn't have any problems....or am I? Thanks in advance! Quote

RNBRAD Posted December 27, 2004 Report Posted December 27, 2004 I would probably run forged pistons since they have stronger skirts, if your not already. Quote

I didn't think it would make too much difference, just wanted some opinions from the pros....If anyone differs from what's up here already, I'm all ears....Thanks again!! Quote
