FMF PIPES

I'm new at this i bought i a set of fmf pipes for my stock o1 banshee everything is stock. What do i need to buy or do to get these pipes to run right ? do i have to put a k&n filter on can i leave that stock ? Is there a jetting set that i can buy or shoud i re-jet? i don't realy wan't make it super fast I mostly ride in woods and water ? always in clean cool air around 65 degrees? please help?

You do not need anything else. I recommend getting a K&N Filter since you will be able to re-use it later on. Remember, air filters get dirty and the stock one can not be cleaned enough.

 

If you put the K&N filter:

1. Get a pair of 280 main jets and put them on.

2. Remember to take the snorkle off the box lid.

3. Install the pipes and take it for a spin. Do the plug chop method

 

You shoul be able to notice if there is a problem with the jetting if it bugs heavely at FULL THROTTLE. This means you should probably go one or two sizes down.(260 or 270 jets)

 

Else, if the shee does not keep pulling at FULL THROTTLE and the power feels flat then go up in sizes until you reach a point where it runs great. Is better to go big in the mains and then down size than putting small mains and burning your pistons.

 

If you run the stock fiilter try 260 main jetts. Do the plug chop method.

FMF website recomends 260 and snorkel off, but i totally agree w/Richie, go fat on the mains first and work down.

Get some 270-280 mains if you run the air box cover on, You can cut the last 1.5" off the end of the lid to get more air in there. I suggest it. Then you can run a 290 mains, raise the needles to the 4th or 5th clip, try both and decide which setting pulls best, it should the 4th setting w/ aftermarket reeds or the 5th setting w/ stock reeds. Keep the stock pilot, adjust air screws to throttle response. Absolutely buy the K&N w/ adaptor plate, very important. The stock filter will allow sand inbetween the filter and box and eventually destroy the pistons..$90 filter setup is cheaper than $300 rebuild...good luck
