RNBRAD Posted December 19, 2004 Report Posted December 19, 2004 Well guys, many of you know that it sucks when your outerwears are stuck to your pipes with open filters. I bought the Cascade flexible fiberglass units, not totally happy with them, they are affective but lack that custom austhetic look all banshee's should have, ya know. I need some idea's on what to use. I've got some rolled stainless I could cut to form with the curve of the midpipe section. Possibly clamp it to the exhaust using hose clamps. I need a spacer which I bought some poly spacers, not sure if they will hold up to the heat or not. I need some thermal brakes to stop heat transfer to the shield (possibly ceramic?). I hope convection won't heat the shield up to still melt my outerwears (not sure about the space I need between shield and pipe). I can't have a whole lot of space since many of you know it's tight already. There somebody out there that has done this or somone that has some good idea's, let me hear it before I start this project. Thanks in advance. I'll post some pics of the final product if I get it right. Quote
BdBanshee Posted December 19, 2004 Report Posted December 19, 2004 I made a bracket with a spacer mounted to it to keep the filters from touching each other, or the pipes. Here is a pic: Clamp on pic Quote

SICK BOY Posted December 19, 2004 Report Posted December 19, 2004 Ron, I couldn't get it to work. 295276[/snapback] Same here. Quote
BdBanshee Posted December 20, 2004 Report Posted December 20, 2004 It's not working for me either now. I'm still getting used to this new IP. Quote
RNBRAD Posted December 20, 2004 Author Report Posted December 20, 2004 Oh ok, you just moved them back a little farther out of the way. Hmm good idea, I may just do that instead cause I was looking and don't think I have the room to fit a shield in there. Thanks Ron you da man!!! Quote
ledofthezep Posted December 20, 2004 Report Posted December 20, 2004 (edited) I tried spacers like on Ron's, but ultimately I still was cleaning filters quite often and still managed to get holes worn in my outerwears. Got tired of messing with them & got the toomey 2:1 as shown below. Still running the same outerwear that came with the filter & cleaning it's not quite the headache as with the K&N's. Just another option out there... Edited December 20, 2004 by ledofthezep Quote

I'll try and figure something out cause yes the filters do rub together and that pisses me off too. Quote
00BANSHEE Posted December 21, 2004 Report Posted December 21, 2004 I just wrapped the stingers with header wrap. Goes on and comes off real easy. Never had a problem with melted outerwears. Quote
