tree454 Posted December 18, 2004 Report Posted December 18, 2004 I have an engine that has a cracked bottom case, but the top is still good. With the number of cases out there where the chain mangles the top half, can I just combine two good halves and put it together or do I need to have it machined so everything will match up. Thanks Quote
Redlined Posted December 18, 2004 Report Posted December 18, 2004 When they make these cases they are line bored as a set. Although you could probably fit a different top with a different bottom, I would plan on getting a set, just to be on the safe side. I would hate to spend all that time putting it together, just to have it not fit properly. That Quote

Holyman Posted December 18, 2004 Report Posted December 18, 2004 ALOT of people just change the one they need. Quote
nater006 Posted December 20, 2004 Report Posted December 20, 2004 Guy did exactly that on mine, cracked it (the upper) and replaced it, and they fit together nicely. Woulda just welded up the upper but he replaced it so... no complaints Quote
