ok i blew up my shee a little will ago so it is time to do some winter work.

my connecting rod bearings are toast so the ckrank neds to come out so i was thinking of a plus 4 mm stroker rod and boring int out again.

now to my knowledge a stroker crank will just raise my compression..... now will raising my compression make my shee more liklly to have a top end problems

ie less reliable

If you are going to put a stroker crank in, then you are going to want to do a lot of other modifications so that it is running the way it is designed and it is going to cost you some money. Are you prepared to spend a grand or two?

If you are just looking at putting a crank in and are not interested in spending too much doe, then I would stick to the stock crank.

your crank has nothing to do with compression, its your pistons and head or domes. my advice if you can afford it i would go for it. more stroke= more power. i will get getting my passions +4 stroker by jan i hope and will let you know.

also if you need a good stock crank i got one that i pulled out for my stroker its in excellent cond. no play. i would get some one to weld and true it before you install it. if interested let me know

You can get great power with just porting. Thing is, you already have a bad crank. If you have them money to get porting done and a head, why not get a stroker crank. You can replace the intakes and carbs later if you want to and figure out filtration set up.

4mm stroker add 4mm to the stroke distance of the rods. 2mm higher and 2mm lower. The pistons will actually stick out 2mm above stock cylinders. That's why you need a modified head/domes or a spacer plate.

Depends on the money you want to spend. Like said above you are probably looking at $1000 to $1700 to make it right. If you just get it bored, new stock head, piston kit, gasket, seals, and crank you can proabably get away with $700-$800.

ok maybe i should clear some things up.

i have a kn cone filter, bouysen rad valves and fmf fatty heads and power core 2 silencers. i already have all my seals. but i work at a honda bike dealership as a mechanic so i do all my own work and i get really good prices on parts. but i dont want to stroke it if it means i will be doing rings about twice a season. i try to get ou at least once a week and usally will run through 20 litres.

so the big question is putting a stroker crank in there going to make it more unreliable?

As long as a person doesn't go overboard on the porting it will not eat rings any faster than what it does now.

with some modifications motors can be more unreliable, but like fixitrod said, as long sa you dont go overboard its not gonna have problems, but if you get high compression, you will be alittle less reliable

I rode Fixitrods banshee this march at Dumont, and it flat out hauled ass!!

The thing I couldn't get over, is I'd shift it where I thought it needed to be shifted, and Rod would tell me I was short shifting it, and to "let it wind out" WTF? That bike had some nuts.....

If I had the time and cash I'd do a +4 stroker right now.
