i am in the process of building the shee and i am a little stuck on the air setup to use. dual clamp ons or mod the airbox?

 

i will be riding in the snow, and will run into some mud sometimes.....no dunes here

 

if i have to mod the airbox, how should i do it? also what needs to be bought in terms of plumbing for my 34mm carbs coming in the mail? thanks guys

You will need the larger carb adapters that will fit on the larger carbs then mount to your stock airbox. I have some UPP adapters brand new if your interested. They are between 20 to 25 bucks for the pair, I'll sell mine for 10 plus shipping and they are still in the package brand new. I opted to go with the clamp on k and n's.

Buy clamp ons and be done with it. You don't need the airbox unless you REALLY get into the mud deep. sell your airbox and you have half of the clamp ons paid for. Don't forget to run outerwears.

I suggest to stay away from clampons. If you ride in the wet, your tires throw shit right at them. My buddy has a toomey air filter set up and it magnets up every thing not just mud, even goin down a wet dirt road. Every hour or so he has to clean the filter cause it gets clogged with water or dirt them his plugs foul. There is no done with it its opening up a can of worms. Last night we quick fixed it with a piece of cardboard cause it was getting rediculos.

I myself run a air box no lid with a k&N an outerware and mine has no trouble staying clean an dry,unless I hit a massive puddle then the outerware gets drentched an kills the air intake.

70% of my riding is wet or muddy.

This is slightly off topic, but has anyone modded their petcock to dual fuel lines?

I run a 2:1 filter and never had a problem. Is he running a outerwear?

When I went to 34mm carbs I found that I lost a lot of clearence between the carbs and the stock airbox which made the carbs a nightmare to get on and off. This was due to a combo of larger(slightly longer) carbs, longer than stock bilit intake, and I think v-force added a caouple mm's to. I went with pod filters. I got foam filters for the dirt and K&N for the sand. Way nicer to work on now.

unless your running in the sand or dry dirt all the time, just get a pro flo foam kit, ditch the airbox lid and be done with it. For the amount more it'll flow, its not worth it, unless your dragging all the time or in the sand all the time. Now all we gotta do is get outerwears to make a skin for the pro flo uni foam

I thought you could use one, but I wasnt goin to argue with them.

I just went to outerwears site an they offer one for the toomey

kit. Ah I love magic, they give me bad info an make me look like an ass.
