I dont know too much about the engine side of quads but I wanted to know what exactly you have to do when fitting an aftermarket pipe/silencer on a banshee. I know the basic things which you have to do such as re-jetting the main, pilot and needle jets and then connect up the new pipe/silencer. However, is there anything else you need to do? I was reading the toomey t-6 instructions and it tells you to set the floats, what does this mean? all help is appreciated.....thanks :D

There are floats in the carburator in which control the fuel level in your carb, there is a spec in the manual(which i don't have on me) and you turn the carb upside down w/float bowl removed and measure the height of floats. when those floats are all the way up(or down when carb upside down) it shuts off the fuel supply in the carb so it doesnt just run out your overflow lines. If your float level is off too much either way you are just going to be spilling gas, or your engine will be starving for fuel.

I have just had another look at the toomey t-6 instructions and it says that it should measure 21mm from the float bowl gasket surface to the top of the floats, should this measurement be used for any kind of pipe and silencer that you run?

do I have to do anything to the floats when installing a new pipe and silencer?

Typically if your not having any problems with fuel over flowing from the carbs or starving for fuel after a long time at WOT you dont need to mess with the floats. It doesn't hurt to check and see if they are to spec but I wouldn't worry about it. About the only thing I can think of is check to make sure the O-rings are in the pipe flange that go over the exhaust ports on the cylinder and put a bit of grease on then so they slide on easy and seal good. If they are missing your stock pipe O-rings will work. Put the expansion chambers on first with springs and loosely bolted then the silencers. Somethimes it helps to unbolt the front fender on the lower bracket to get the pipes on.

You shouldn't have to touch the floats, I think they are just telling you to check all adjustments in the carbs while you have them apart. Factory specs are 21-23mm...
