Ok I just bought this thing like a week ago ( its a 99'..)

And last night I noticed some coolant leaking onto the pipe so I took the front end off and didn't find any kind of busted hoses or anything ,But I did find 2 ( what looking to be over flow tubes) those are the only thing that I seen that had moisture on them .. Is this common ?

Any help would be great , I'am n00b to the banshee world ..

Thanks

ed

That is your over flow line,it will drip on your pipe to let you know your getting hot.

You can relocate the lines so they hang back under the swing arm this allows for the pipes to stay clean... do a search and there should be losts of topics explaining the mod!

Ok , I though the problem had stopped but it hasn't .. I have noticed that My shee doesn't seem to smoke as much anymore ... The guy I bought it off of was running 50:1 ( not sure of what style mix he was using), All I know if that everysince I have run out of the gas that was in it when I got it the bike seems to wanna drip on my pipe every now and then ... I was Wondering if I go back to yamalube or a better 2 cycle mix do you think that it could be the cause of the overheating ??

Thanks

Pick a good oil and stick with it. Mix the oil you pick at the recommended ratio on the bottle. Yamalube is best at 32:1, others are 40:1 or 50:1

What you are experiencing is not all that uncommon. You may be a litle lean on the jetting. This may sound a little strange but a good way to prevent overheating is to do a couple WOT runs up into the higher gears and get some airflow through the radiator and some fluid circulating through the radiator every 10 minutes or so. If you are only in 1rst or 2nd gear your not gettng a lot of coolant through the radiator. When I'm at the dunes and running slow windy trails it will overheat pretty easy but almost never when I'm in open spaces or on fast hill climbs doing a lot of WOT riding.

Right,...if you can, find an open place and open it up to get some good air passing through the radiator to help cool it a bit. I actual re-routed that overflow tupe so it leakes down behind the motor along with the carb drains so it woulnd't be hitting my pipes. ;)

Looks like Ducman got ya straitened out there...I've ran Castor927 since day one in my banshee at 40:1, still running stock pistons & rings on my '97. Last time I had my head off, everything still looked new. B)

Sweet thanks guys , the problem with the oil is that the guy didn't tell me what kind of oil he ran .. I think I'am gonig to get some yamalube for my next tank and see if that helps .. The thing ran FLAWLESS untill I put fuel in ( after what he had in it ran out ) I know he was running it 50:1 though .. the plugs look to be ( what I would think as decent) brown color .. Looks like I'am gonna have to pay as much attention to the plug in my shee, same as my damned car ...
