Are early and late model axles the same?

Just wondering if the axles for the early carrier are the same as those after 91.

should be the same only diff is the carriers had the tubes for bracing on the newer ones....and the hubs where bigger but have same splines as the new ones too... my brother 89 has 05 hubs from a 450

same axle, diffrent hubs, diffrent way to mount up the carriers

Thanks guys. I knew the wheel hubs are interchangable but I wasn't sure if the axle was different where the bearings mount. The early carrier tube seems alot smaller than the later model.
