Holyman Posted November 11, 2004 Report Posted November 11, 2004 My brother in law has a really nice rock climber Jeep that he's going to put a 94 vette engine in. Any suggestions? There was some question about the direction of the coolant flow and the opti-spark {?} distributer. Any info would be great. We were also wondering about top speed with 35" tires. Quote

2004LEBanshee Posted November 11, 2004 Report Posted November 11, 2004 I live 5 min from 4 wheel drive hardware and they have a white yj with a lt1 from a vet in it, its pimp. Quote
04ShEeLE Posted November 11, 2004 Report Posted November 11, 2004 Go to Forur X Doctor. He is the best for rock crawling shit and he as an older CJ-5 with a vette engine. Leave him an email or call him. He is honestly the most knowledgeable guy around. chris Quote
Cotton eyed Joe Posted November 11, 2004 Report Posted November 11, 2004 One of my local customers has done a couple 350sb swaps into CJ's. He just sold his last one, but I would bet he'll do it again. I saw a pimped out one at St. Anthonys a few years back They called it a ZJ28 and that thing hauled ass. Had a spooled diff, and some mean paddles hanging out the back. Quote
patrolman808 Posted November 11, 2004 Report Posted November 11, 2004 I'd stay away from the LT1 unless you can get rid of the Opti-spark unit. If it gets wet, you're screwed. I'd go the LS1 route myself. They're getting as affordable as a LT1 nowadays. I'm doing the '02 LS6/6spd swap in my '69 Firebird. Huge cam, headers, etc. The fuel system can be done pretty simply. They're reverse cooled. The coolant comes into the motor through the thermostat, instead of out it.I could probably give you some pointers if you need some direction. Quote

He already has the engine {LT1} and he was concerned about the opti-spark. Is there a reliable aftermarket alternative? Because this thing WILL get wet. Quote
lincster Posted November 11, 2004 Report Posted November 11, 2004 Not a jeep.... but I am putting a LS1 in my new rail. Quote
zilladude Posted November 12, 2004 Report Posted November 12, 2004 http://delteq.com/products_opti.htm Here is a fix for the opti-spark ignition Quote
01bansheeke Posted November 12, 2004 Report Posted November 12, 2004 quick but expensive! lol. I've seen a few lt1's with that set-up. very nice My reccomendation on the lt1...go for it! i've got plenty of torque. I've always wanted to put my 383 lt1 into an ol s-10 blazer 4x4 we have. The optispark shouldn't be a problem. Its not a good set-up, but for rock crawling(nut mudding etc) you should be fine. As for the reverse cooling, alot of what that does, is let you run higher compression. Nothing to worry about, just make sure you have the right water pump for it. I don't think the radiator is any different, but i would go with a big aluminum unit. Quote
