bhatch21 Posted November 9, 2004 Report Posted November 9, 2004 I just acquired a 2002 banshee. As far as i know it is stock bore. It has stock pipes and a pro-flow filter with the lid on. When the bike is cold it starts on the first kick almost without choking it. After I warmed it up it continued to smoke at all throttle positions. Nothing real excessive though. After an hour of riding the plugs fouled. They were oily only on the electrode. The compression is 125psi on both cylinders. I was wondering if this sounds like a banshee running rich because of an oversized main/pilot jets or a richer jet needle position? Just wanting to know what you guys think before i take the carbs off. thanks. Quote

RNBRAD Posted November 9, 2004 Report Posted November 9, 2004 Im not sure exactly where your rich at, but start with the main jet and eliminate from there. First I would put new plugs in it and warm it up then ride it up to wot for a few second, turn ignition off and coast to a stop. Pull plugs for plug check. You will need to lean out the main jet a size or two if your plugs insulator is black. This should fix your fouling. Quote
FIRST BANSHEE Posted November 9, 2004 Report Posted November 9, 2004 It sounds like maybe your choke circuit is partially plugged if you can start it cold with out the choke. If it was mine I would clean the carbs, make sure the passages are clear and try again. Quote
