bluebansheeinohio Posted November 3, 2004 Report Posted November 3, 2004 I'M JUST BOUGHT A 2001 BANSHEE A WEEK AGO AND IT'S SMOKING ALOT MORE OUT OF THE LEFT EXHAUST.. I HAVE FMF SST'S AND A K&N FILTER WITH THE LID ON.. MY LEFT PLUG IS BLACK AND SLIGHTLY MOIST.. MY RIGHT IS BROWN AND DRY.. I CANT GET THE THING TO IDLE EITHER. DOES ANYONE KNOW HOW MANY TURNS OUT THE AIR SCREWS ARE SUPPOSED TO BE AND WHAT JET'S SHOULD BE IN IT??? I'M AT AN ELEVATION OF 1,100.. THANKS FOR ANY INFO.. Quote
Dakota02 Posted November 3, 2004 Report Posted November 3, 2004 Sounds like your carbs are out of sync. I'd pull them off and clean them and make sure the jets are the same size in each of them. It may just be a clogged up jet that is making the one side rich. Quote
Wallynut Posted November 3, 2004 Report Posted November 3, 2004 If you look on the left side of the carbs, you will see a "window" that will show a shiny spot when the throttle is pushed. If the spots don't appear at the same time, your out of sync. It wouldn't hurt to go into the carbs if you bought the atv used, you never know what the previous owner may have done jetting wise, plus it's a good thing to know what you have in there. Get a cylmer manual if you don't already have one, best $20-30 you can spend. Quote
adrenilinjunki Posted November 3, 2004 Report Posted November 3, 2004 has the top end been rebuit a buddy of mine had a cracked piston and decided to take the cheap way only replace that piston and the rings on the other but he got a wisco piston that had biger ports on it than the factory on and it and it was doing what you are describeing. so we had to play with the carbs a bit before it would run right and not smoke more on one side. his wouldnt stay running and we discoverd bad thos switches cant say if you have the same but it sounds real familiure.
