racer Posted November 2, 2004 Report Posted November 2, 2004 (edited) so i know the cut off for 93 is 165 psi. but when do you need more than 105? how much compression is really necessary to justify 110? the reason im asking is that im redoin the motor, and getting new domes. i have the option to run 110, 101 or red(105). so what compression numbers will i need to make use of all that extra octane? FIRST BANSHEE Posted November 2, 2004 Report Posted November 2, 2004 On my 250r, I have 215psi,and it doesn't run well on 100. I use 110 or better in it Quote
Big Blue Posted November 2, 2004 Report Posted November 2, 2004 100 and 110 are about the same price here so i just use 110. Quote
Ducman Posted November 2, 2004 Report Posted November 2, 2004 Call NOSS Machine and ask them, they'll know for sure. Quote

sredish Posted November 2, 2004 Report Posted November 2, 2004 so i know the cut off for 93 is 165 psi. but when do you need more than 105? how much compression is really necessary to justify 110? so i know the cut off for 93 is 165 psi. basically, yes, however, my personal cutoff for 93 is 160. But, if you have your timing advanced, then you'll need to come down some more. So, for 155 lbs. with +5 timing, I'd use a higher octane or a mixture there as well. For 160 to 170 I'd use 100 octane. 170 to 180, 100 - 105 octane will probably be alright, but 180 and up, I'd say 110 all the way. Honestly, I believe if your gonna go with race fuel, you might as well get some 104 at the least. I run a Sunoco 104 with oxygen. They say the oxygen is good for another 3% on power, but you might have to jet up a tad for it. But, Oxygenated fuel is like crack, once you use it, you'll never go back. My compression is 150 with +4, but I'll be moving it to +6 and my compression should be around 160 after the rebuild. The oxygen is so worth the cost, if your gonna pay for the octane, you might as well get some added go go juice out of it. Quote
racer Posted November 2, 2004 Author Report Posted November 2, 2004 scott, what are you payin for oxy fuel? its friggin high here. like 12 a gallon for the VP stuff. but i can get 110 for like 6 a gallon Quote
SICK BOY Posted November 2, 2004 Report Posted November 2, 2004 If you do a search there was a chart posted on here awhile ago.I think in was Dave Noss that posted it,but I'm not sure. Quote
