DIRTBIKEZ Posted October 23, 2004 Report Posted October 23, 2004 Did you press the balljoint into the spindle completely? I had the same problem until I pressed the balljoint in that last 1/8" or so. Quote
superchicken Posted October 23, 2004 Report Posted October 23, 2004 unthread the nut and clean the threads on both the nut and ball joint.put the ball joint back in the tapered hole and give it a good squeeze down with a pair of channel locks.doing that will make in snug in the tapered hole and it should turn down all the way. sweetshee4312 Posted October 23, 2004 Author Report Posted October 23, 2004 u cant take the ball joint out... Quote
superchicken Posted October 23, 2004 Report Posted October 23, 2004 (edited) out of the spindle or the a-arm-it wont come out of the a-arm is the nut down past the start of the threads? if so hold it with a pair of pliers;with a rag Edited October 23, 2004 by superchicken Quote
banshee04le Posted October 23, 2004 Report Posted October 23, 2004 No, he's just suggesting that you clean the threads with a tap and die so that they will thread smoothly again, if they are that bad that is. Tap the ball joint into the spindle with a hammer, and the tapered shaft of the ball joint will wedge in the spindle. This will keep it from turning when you put the wrench to the nut. If tapping doesn't get it to wedge, squeeze down on it with a pair of channel locks (one jaw under the spindle and the other jaw on top of the ball joint) to get it to wedge and hold it while you turn the wrench with the other hand. superchicken Posted October 23, 2004 Report Posted October 23, 2004 yeah! thanx for translating that Quote
banshee04le Posted October 23, 2004 Report Posted October 23, 2004 Not that my explanation made any more sense to him, but glad to help. How's it goin' there sweetshee? Quote
sweetshee4312 Posted October 23, 2004 Author Report Posted October 23, 2004 its through the spindal, but if i try to hold under the spindal, it holds it up to far, damn this bitch is goin, i gotta ride sunday, so if it does...well, i just gotta hope the 1/4 of an inch its on, stays there Quote
sweetshee4312 Posted October 23, 2004 Author Report Posted October 23, 2004 now i cant get it off, i even stuck a lil screw driver through the cotter pin hole, all it did was bend...and tha was me tryin to get it off.....ahhh f*ck...another day missed to my pos.....i dunno why i keep it, all my freinds do is rag on me all the time, casue i cant ride when ever they go....they all have 4 jokes, i fianlly beat my freinds rappy, then my chain broke, so.... i think id rather have a slow 4 joke and get to ride, then a fast 2 stroke, and get to ride it 3 times a year Quote
DIRTBIKEZ Posted October 24, 2004 Report Posted October 24, 2004 think id rather have a slow 4 joke and get to ride, then a fast 2 stroke, and get to ride it 3 times a year This has nothing to do with 2 strokes/ 4 stroke. It obviously has to do with your mechanical ability... or lack of. Quote
sweetshee4312 Posted October 24, 2004 Author Report Posted October 24, 2004 hey dont gotta be dissin now Quote
2004LEBanshee Posted October 24, 2004 Report Posted October 24, 2004 (edited) I had this problem there are 2 things you can do. 1. this is the best idea is to use a die and rethread the ball joint. this works great. 2. Use a impack and keep hitting it. (trigger that is) good luck. If the impack dont work your threads are messed up. I would then rethread it. Oh make sure the nut is all the way down because I did it once and there was a little play in the nut and the cotter pin. The threads of the nut eventually wore away and the cotter pin sheared off will I was riding and the lower a arms stuck in the ground and I wrecked. SO PUT IT ON TIGHT> Edited October 24, 2004 by 2004LEBanshee Quote
