40CoorsDodgeFan Posted October 5, 2004 Report Posted October 5, 2004 I bought a used Banshee of a friend of mine. It was older and needed some work. It had Toomey pipes, bored .30 over, and a Trinity 2-into-1 Intake and Keihin 34 mm carb. When I bought it the guy said the Shee need to be rebuilt(it smole alot when it ran). I went through the complete top and bottom end. I also cleaned the carb. After I was done it still smoked alot. I figured out his Gas mixture was way off. I mixed it right and it still run's rich!!! Smoles alot, leaves the silencers really wet, and fouls' the plug's real quick!!! Sometime it a Bi*ch to start also! Anyone have any ideas on a good jet setup or what else it could be? I need to try the jetting and maybe a new ignition coil!!! Any help?????? Quote
40CoorsDodgeFan Posted October 5, 2004 Author Report Posted October 5, 2004 More Info! It seem's like the left cylinder is smoking and wetter than the Right one. I mean it's noticeably worse!!!! Even my wife who doesn't know anything about that stuff saw it!!! So, I'm thinking it's an ignition problem!!!! Quote
United Pot Smoker Posted October 5, 2004 Report Posted October 5, 2004 here is a list of stuff to do in order. check your compression. if thats good. i think, do a leak down test to see if any engine seals are leaking. that will take care if the enging to see if thats working right. if its not your engine then its this stuff. get some yama oil and mix it 32-1 with 92+ octane rating. and see how that burns. also throw some new plugs in there. and seeins how you got the 2-1 carb you have no other problems to worry about. if not that stuff it comes down to the wiring and electrical. most likly not though. im in the same boat as you so check my post and see what soe says. i think its a crank seal myself but am not too sure. peace Quote
Banchetta Posted October 6, 2004 Report Posted October 6, 2004 ONe side is smoking more than the other w/ a single carb indicates you have an air leak of some sort. I'd check the compression and do a leak down test like smoky suggested and go from there..make sure the reeds are cracked or gapped open .. Quote
