apbt549 Posted September 20, 2004 Report Posted September 20, 2004 I need some new mods i want to smoke another shee. what should i do next my bike is pretty fast but i have trouble keeping it on all four tires it likes to come up in the frt end.right now it has the following mods....its a 03 limited shee with pt mids with fat boys no air box lid , k&n filter and 320 jets. now the reason for the new mods are a friend of mine has a 04 shee with pipes fmf and a k&n and tires and he changed his back sprocket went up by 2 teeth.i am tired of him bugging me to race so i want to smoke him bad so he will leave me alone. not wanting to change the motor b/c it doesn't have that many hrs on it was thinking of maybe some reeds and a 4 degree key will those mods make that big of a difference or what elese is there where i won't mess up the motor i don't want to make mods to the motor and then have to work on the motor every other month b/c of the mods. know what i mean.give me some input here guys......tks karl Quote

What kind of race are you in?how long?what terrain?New back tires will hook up so much better than stock.Going up on the back will make you take off slower and lose top speed...how about a coolhead with 21cc domes and some reed cages and change your gearing... apbt549 Posted September 20, 2004 Author Report Posted September 20, 2004 pretty much drag racing on some hard packed dirt...don't really know the distance. i don't have a problem with the stock tires hooking they hook up pretty damn hard hard enough the frt end comes up in 1st 2nd and 3rd ...to me thats my biggest problem until i keep that down i don't think new mods will help much do you? wielandr Posted September 20, 2004 Report Posted September 20, 2004 umm lean up towards the bars and unless the front end itd comming up so high that you have let let off to set it down then it is not slowwing you down at all sooo just position yourself better Quote
sheefreak Posted September 20, 2004 Report Posted September 20, 2004 If you can't keep the front end down then extend the swingarm, may sacrifice a hair on hookup, but that is what you claim to be the problem is. Quote
itsjustagreat1 Posted September 22, 2004 Report Posted September 22, 2004 Well, first of all, don't go with a degree key! Go with a timing advance plate! For the extra money it is well worth it... Set it at four or five degree advance or 4.5. You will definately tell a difference. On the plus side, if you ever do any other work to the motor you cany play with your timing. SECOND....New reeds. TDR reeds are a good choice if you want to port your reed cages (really easy with a file and a dremel), boysen's power reeds are good also, but it is very very hard to beat V- force 2 reeds!!!!! THIRD... More compression Cheap-have head milled usually 35-65 dollars or Expensive-cool head or similar with 20cc domes. You will not need race gas! And finally, +2 or +4 swingarm. I don't remember if you said you have k&n's but if you don't, buy the dual open pod filters with outerwares! Just ideas that I have observed from me and my buddies, but try what you like. Quote
