FireHead Posted August 21, 2004 Report Posted August 21, 2004 If anyone has a couple pictures of power jet installation on a set of stock carbs, I would love to see them. Specifically, the float and intake body area. I am having a hard time finding a place that I like on the body to mount them. The other question is where the feed nipple goes on the float bowl. I have only use Lectrons on my previous builds and decided to try something new with modifying stock carbs. Quote
FireHead Posted August 21, 2004 Author Report Posted August 21, 2004 A verbal explanation would also be sufficient at this point. Possibly some verbal abuse if an explanation isn't out there somwhere? Quote
Oilsmoke Posted August 24, 2004 Report Posted August 24, 2004 (edited) Hey Dumb ass why waste a power jet on a stock carb? Muhehheheehe Edited August 24, 2004 by Oilsmoke Quote
FireHead Posted August 24, 2004 Author Report Posted August 24, 2004 Its only a waste if thats all I was doing to the carb. After a little flow bench research I found broing the body of the carb out to 32mm and dropping a 28mm slide if after boring the slide bor as well yields a significantly higher flow than a standard 34mm Lectron. Its an experiment, but it should yield some high rpm hp. Besides, the powerjets I'm using only cost $8 a piece. Quote
Oilsmoke Posted August 24, 2004 Report Posted August 24, 2004 Firehead that does sound good on paper Let us now how they work out. will you flow bench them? and can i get a pair of power jets for 8 bucks each? Quote
FireHead Posted August 24, 2004 Author Report Posted August 24, 2004 I already flow benched them and they seem to work well, or atleast better than a larger set. The trick will be tuning them. I think i have everything figured out except how to sneak the jets themselves on the bore. As for other getting the cheap powerjets, I'll have to talk to the guy, but it seems to me he was selling them on eBay awhile back for like $18, thats how I met him. Quote
Oilsmoke Posted August 26, 2004 Report Posted August 26, 2004 (edited) I'LL take his ebay name or a link to an item than i put him in my favorite fold for the future. will you cut the needle jet down or make a custom carb plug with a deeper pocket? Edited August 26, 2004 by Oilsmoke Quote
FireHead Posted August 26, 2004 Author Report Posted August 26, 2004 I'll have to scrounge up the guys eBay name. I made a couple custom slides that use the standard needles. I seem to be able to get large enought jets to make these work mathematically. Hopefully this all works out. Quote
FireHead Posted September 2, 2004 Author Report Posted September 2, 2004 The guy I have been betting the jets from has an eBay name of powertoyboy. Quote
Oilsmoke Posted September 2, 2004 Report Posted September 2, 2004 Thx FireHead How's them carbs coming? Quote
FireHead Posted September 2, 2004 Author Report Posted September 2, 2004 They would be coming alot better if i hadn't lost one of the powerjets that I needed to install. Now I have to wait a few days until I get another one, which means atleast one more day on top that until I can fire the bike up. Quote
FireHead Posted September 8, 2004 Author Report Posted September 8, 2004 And? I still haven't recieved the new power jet. Quote
