Like I said, I was lazy, it was cheap and easy. For some people time is worth money. For me to "build" my own I would have to go chase parts, assemble everything, determine a location suitable for installation and so on. The heatseeker was an easy install, you cut about 2" out of the upper rad hose, install this in-line with 2 new hose clamps, install the front plastic and you're done, plus there is less chance of leaks with the heatseeker IMO, for me it was an easy choice. Plus we are only talking about $30 NOT $300.
